JUWEL Phorax is a highly efficient filter medium for breaking down phosphates in your aquarium. It effectively reduces algae growth and can contribute significantly to improved plant growth.Phosphates regularly enter the aquarium through fish food and are hardly degraded naturally. Plants, however, only need very small amounts of phosphate for their natural growth (freshwater: 0.05 mg/l, seawater 0.01 mg/l). Under certain circumstances, too much phosphate can trigger an algae plague.Phorax consists of an aluminium mineral that binds dissolved phosphate by forming a water-insoluble aluminium phosphate and thus removes it from the water.
